Willie Lee Hayes

Willie Lee Hayes was born on November 20, 1945, in Natchez, Mississippi, to the late Amos and Alberta Chatman. He peacefully departed this life on September 13, 2026, in Mission Hills, California.

Willie proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His service was a reflection of his strength, dedication, and commitment.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vivian (Hayes) Bailey and Mary Chatman; and other loved ones who welcomed him home.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving siblings: Ella Dee Hinton of Los Angeles, California; Frank Chatman of Indianapolis, Indiana; Ammie Drummonds of Chicago, Illinois; Sofronia Chatman of Natchez, Mississippi; Nathaniel Chatman of Natchez, Mississippi; Martha Strickland and Mary Strickland of Natchez, Mississippi; and Leroy Strickland of Natchez, Mississippi; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

Willie was known for his warm and outgoing personality. A true people person, he never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He always carried a smile and had a story ready to share, often bringing laughter and comfort to those around him.

He worked faithfully at Western States Roofing until his health no longer allowed him to continue. In his free time, Willie enjoyed quoting memorable movie lines, listening to rap music, watching funny online videos, and cartoons—simple pleasures that brought him great joy.

Above all, Willie will be remembered for his kindness. He treated everyone he met with warmth and respect, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

His presence, laughter, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Visitation will be held at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, 23287 North Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321, US, on October 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will take place at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, 23287 North Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321, US, on October 12, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

A Committal Service will follow at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, 23287 North Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321, US, on October 12, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
