Anna B Johnson

Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Anna B. Johnson (Newman). She is with Jesus and other loved ones that went before her.

Anna went peacefully asleep surrounded by family on June 3, 2026 at the age of 95. She was born on October 20, 1930 in Hazard County, KY and later moved to Knoxville, TN.

Anna attended the 8th Avenue Church of God, then Dutch Valley Church of God after moving back home to Knoxville from Dayton, OH. She had unwavering faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

She was a retired hairdresser, an awesome homemaker, avid seamstress and a fantastic cook. Anna was the epitome of a virtuous woman and took loving care of her family.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Delbert Johnson and their eldest son, Garry L. Johnson; parents, Bertha Pelfrey, Ted Newman and Jack Pelfrey; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Betty Newman.

Anna will be missed by loved ones and children, Eugene (Jenny) Johnson, Anna Lynn Gregory, John Wesley Johnson and Helen (Mark) Lacey; nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, four great- great grandchildren with three more due this summer. She leaves behind a legacy.

The family would like to extend a grateful thank you to the nursing staff of Amedisys Hospice.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, June 9th from 5-7pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home. Graveside service will take place Wednesday, June 10th at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918, meeting at the cemetery at 12:45pm for a 1pm service. Rev. Ken Lacey to officiate.
