Crystal Pauline Hazlett

With sadness for us and thanksgiving for her, we announce the passing of Crystal Pauline (McNanny) Hazlett, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in Reform, Missouri to Hattie Belle & Thomas Underwood, and raised by her grandparents with her three sisters when her mother passed away when she was 4 years old. Crystal lived a life characterized by kindness, resilience, and humor.

Crystal graduated from High School as Valedictorian, married her sweetheart of 67 years, Buddy D. Hazlett, then raised a family of sons in Fulton, Mexico and finally at the farm in Guthrie, Missouri. She worked many jobs throughout her life, most known as the Head Cook for the New Bloomfield School District.

Crystal was a passionate quilter, gardener, reader, baker, and much more. She and Bud were well known for their huge garden, selling their tomatoes, and more from their front patio. They were longtime members of Dry Fork Baptist Church, and founding members of Guthrie Community Church, which is now New Bloomfield Community Christian School. Crystal was a Sunday School teacher and GA leader, and Secretary/Treasurer for both churches. She also was an Election Judge, member of the Guthrie Service Club, member of the Volunteer Fire Department, and spent many happy hours helping her community where needed, especially the elderly. She could always be found watching the Cardinals play. Loved that baseball with Myrtle!

Crystal is survived by their sons, Roger (Debbie) Hazlett, Harold Dean Hazlett, and Daughter-in-law, Cindy Hazlett. Grandchildren, Adam (Amanda) Hazlett, Jessi (Sean) Scholes, Jenny Hazlett, Dean (Brittany) Hazlett, Roman (Judy) Allen, Hayley (David) Amelung, and Reston Allen. Great grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob, Josh, Amaya, Jackson, Liberty, Riley, Alyssa, Aiden, Cici, Avery, Liam, Dayton, Kaleb, and Addison. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Myrtle Martin, and many nieces and nephews. Crystal was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Dean Hazlett, son, Steven Mitchell Hazlett, sisters, Auline Harris and Marie Doerhoff.

We will celebrate Crystal’s life at Debo Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. Family visitation is at 11 a.m., public visitation at 12 noon, and the funeral at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be immediately after at Callaway Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dry Fork Baptist Church in Crystal and Bud’s honor.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Kingdom Care Senior Living & Care Community, St. Croix Hospice and Valley Park North Senior Living, for their compassionate care during Crystal’s final days. A very special thank you to Pat Doerhoff and John & Vanessa Barrett for their love and support of their aunt!
