It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Geoffrey Malcolm Conway on September 26, 2026, in Saint-Jean, Quebec, at the age of 85.
Geoff was born in 1941 to Margaret Menzies and George Conway. He grew up in Verdun with his older brother, Peter, and attended Sir George Williams University, where he earned his undergraduate degree.
While bowling, Geoff met the love of his life, Marie-Claire “Claire” Paquin of Côte-Saint-Paul. They married and shared 58 years together, raising their children in Pointe-Claire, Quebec.
Geoff enjoyed many years playing hockey with the Pointe-Claire Oldtimers and served on the board of West Island Montreal Gymnastics (WIM GYM). He spent 35 years in marketing with Canadian National Railway (CN), a career that eventually brought the family to Oakville, Ontario. There, he became active in the local residents’ association and later worked in real estate.
Geoff was a supporter and fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Known to many as the “Miracle Man,” he defied medical odds time and time again, facing neurosurgery, heart valve replacements, heart attacks, ten years of dialysis, two kidney transplants, and two leg amputations. He met each challenge with determination, humour, and an unwavering positive spirit.
Geoff and Claire eventually returned to Quebec and made their home in Noyan, designing their house together. They loved watching the walkers go by and the migrating birds, which Geoff called a “million-dollar view.” They especially treasured the spectacular sunsets they shared there.
Despite his health challenges, Geoff remained active until the end—cutting wood, trimming hedges, building birdhouses, and even mowing the lawn! His quick wit and wonderful sense of humour will be deeply missed.
Geoff was predeceased by his brother, Peter, and his son, Jason. He is survived by his loving wife, Claire; daughters Andrea (Wayne Doba) and Michelle (Sergei Kuprejanov); sister-in-law Audrey Conway; nieces and nephews; and many lifelong and new friends.
Geoff leaves behind a remarkable legacy of perseverance, laughter, love, and friendship. His memory will live on in the people he touched and in the Noyan sunsets he loved so much.
A private celebration of live for family and friends will be held in Noyan.
