Robert "Bobby" Lee Fletcher, age 68, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on July 25, 1958, in Alice, Texas, to Melvin P. and Lola Fletcher. Bobby was raised in Alice and graduated from Alice High School before attending Del Mar College, graduating in 1978. He spent his career as a dedicated Petroleum Engineer and well processor at Schlumberger, where he worked for over 30 years and held numerous technical patents. For his professional achievements, he was honored as a Hall of Fame Recipient by Del Mar College.
In 1979, Bobby married the love of his life, Rose Maria "Mary" Fletcher. Together, they shared 47 beautiful years of marriage and raised three children. A man of many talents, Bobby loved riding motorcycles, working on motors, and woodworking. He was deeply committed to his community and faith, serving as a 25-year Mason, a Shriner with the Sharon Shrine, and a dedicated volunteer with the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul. Family and friends will always remember him as a loving, caring leader who was boundlessly generous with his time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Lola Fletcher, and his brothers, Steven Garza and Jimmy Fletcher. Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his sons, Jason Paul Fletcher and Joshua Lee Fletcher; his daughter, Starla Rose Fletcher; his brother, Henery Fletcher, and his wife, Barbara; sister-in-laws Enedina Sanez and Norma Davilia; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bobby’s memory to Shriners Children’s Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul of St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
