PEKIN ~ Christopher Ray Tippey, 63, of Pekin, passed away at 9:39 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born June 30, 1962 in Canton to Donald E. and Oretta “Rita” (Davis) Tippey. His parents and one sister, Janie M. Shumaker, preceded him in death.
Surviving are two children, Sean (Lindsay Sonenthal) Tippey of Chicago and Julia Tippey of East Peoria; one grandson, Clark Tippey; one brother, Barry (Barbara) Tippey of Lexington, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Jeff Shumaker of Lewistown; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends.
Christopher was a lodge leader for the Lewistown Masonic Lodge. He was of the Christian faith.
He had worked as an IT consultant for multiple agencies, retiring in 2022.
A sports fan, Christopher coached JFL in Pekin for 10 years. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed reading fiction by Tom Clancy, and collecting and listening to music.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2026 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Micah Garnett will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be performed. A private burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
